Happy Holidays

From our family to yours, we hope you have a blessed Christmas and best wishes for 2012.  The last two weeks have been hectic with flu bugs, colds and crazy shoppers at the malls but we have survived!  Can't wait to enjoy a nice relaxing Christmas Eve with "my boys" tonight.  All the best, Kelly.

It has been a while again!

It's been quite a while since my last post.  Was hoping I wasn't going to be one of  "those bloggers".  I am happy to report though that I have found some fun things since August.  One of them is pixels2pages.  This is a great website that you can subscribe to, or not, through my Creative Memories website.  I currently do not subscribe.  At the moment I feel like I don't have the time to dedicate to it.  When my landscaping job is done I will be all over it.  So for now I check out the challenges that they put out every Monday.  The page up top  I created this summer.  The one below I did as one of the challenges.  Instead of placing your smaller photos directly on the large one, the challenge was to split a pic and add the others in between.  I love the look that this gives the page.

To divide your photo simply go to the cut and fill tab using your Storybook Software (4.0 version is now available).  Your first option on the left is your straight cutter.  Choose this and then cut your pic.  Pull the 2 pieces apart and then add your other pics between the separated photo.
So I encourage you to check out pixels2pages.  If you have a fun page you've created and would like me to post it on my blog just pass it along, and let me check it out!  Happy Scrappin'.

Create a Magazine Cover

The soccer season is over and we are ready to swing into hockey.  Team and individual photos came back and I really like the pic this year (Chris Cheliak) is the photographer.  However, I forgot to order a magazine cover...sigh.  So I created my own.  I used the new digital Soccer Addition, dragged the pic on and matted it, found a UPC on line, and got the SI font from 1001fonts.com.  Voila, a magazine cover.

I am soooo ready for summer!

I am a Garden Angel once again this year.  We were out working this morning doing some more spring clean ups when it started to snow...yes I said SNOW.  I'm tired of it.  I had to leave, but the girls were quitting after that job anyway because we could no longer see the plants/weeds in the gardens anymore.  Sigh.  Looking back at pics from last year just makes me long for that warm sunshine again.

I created this "title" with the photo using Word Merge.  You do need to choose the right photo for this to be able to work.  Look under the Digital Tab to find the instructions on how to do this, along with a couple other examples.

Praying for summer....Kelly

Finding Ideas

Here is Big C on the first day of JK.  No there is nothing in his hand, this was taken just before he whacked himself in the forehead.  I call myself his "Mamarazzi", and he seems easily tire of me saying "Just one more" or "Just hold still".

This is page that I scraplifted from page 15 in the new Creative Memories mini catalogue.  It is made using the Digital Wish Kit.  I did add a few embellishments that are not on the original page.  Again, love the blues and greens in this kit!  Sometimes I tend to overlook the actual page ideas in the catalogues.  I look at them as an item to be purchased, not an idea to be used.  The new core catalogue is an idea book as well and has some beautiful layouts in it.  Most of the instructions can be found under the projects and ideas tab on my website http://ca.mycmsite.com/sites/kellyteeuwsen  Click on the tab, then choose digital or traditional ideas depending on what you are working on.  Once you've choosen click on Show Me Projects:  By Catalog.  You can also find the instructions for this page under the digital tab at the top of my blog.

Happy Scrapbooking!

The Spring Retreat done already!

It is hard to believe that the Spring Retreat has come and gone.  It snuck up on me pretty quick this year.  This photo was taken at 2:15am (thanks Marnie), when the last three of us die hard scrappers were heading up to our rooms.  I had a really fun weekend with everyone, and completed almost 40 pages in my album.  Not close to my record, but I am satisfied with what I accomplished.  The gift for attending the retreat this year was the Wish paper and embellishments, or the Digital Wish kit.  I used it to quickly make this 5x7 page.  It is fantastic, and I love the colours.  I want to paint Big C's room navy and green now.  More wish ideas to come soon.

Now I am looking forward to National Scrapbook Day...April 30th.

Thanks for reading!

Big C's Party

Here is a glimpse of the party that we had last weekend.  The kids had a great time, it was nice to see all the smiles on their faces.

I created this page to match the invitation that was handed out.  I've been using some predesigned pages lately because it is quick and easy.  Just click and drag your photos into the frames and then change the background paper to whatever you like.  This page is from the Simply Black predesigned pages and then I used the Discover Make Believe paper and embellishments.  Another way of doing this is using the Click and Fill Pages.  The have no colour to them, just shades of grey.  Again you fill all the selected elements with whatever paper you want and add your embellishments.

The Storybook Plus 3.0 software is still on sale for the rest of March as a download.  Go to my website and check out the specials.

Creating Invitations

This is the birthday invitation I created this year, which I think turned out pretty cute.  I have edited it a bit from the original to post on my blog, there was a bit more info on it and it didn't look as blank.  We had a Pirate Mayhem theme party, so the Creative Memories Make Believe Addition has some great paper and embellishments to use.  I printed them as 5x7 prints and they fit in an envelope and were ready to hand out.  The party was a lot of fun, more pics to come.  Thanks to all the friends that came out!
If you ever want to host a pirate party let me know I've got some great ideas...and wait until you see the cake, it was amazing!

How to use the 3D filter

I copied this page from Consultant Heather Maas.  This is the first time I have played with the 3D Edge filter, which I think is a really great enhancement now that I know how to use it.  To learn how to create this page go to the digital tab at the top of the blog.  You can also go to Heather's blog to see how she created the template.

We have been sick at our house for the last couple of weeks, flu, sinus infection, double ear infection and non stop coughing!  I hope everyone else is making out better then we are!  For those of you going away have a fantastic March Break.  I can't believe it is here already...just looking forward to some warmer weather soon.  I can start posting something other than snow pics!

Embossing a Digital Overlay

A Digital Overlay is like putting a transparent sheet overtop of your existing page that you have created with Storybook Creater Plus.  You can see the swirl designs of the one I have used on this blue page.  Without the overlay it was a plain piece of blue paper.  If you wanted you could fill the overlay with another colour, another piece of paper, or emboss it like I did here.  If you left it alone it would show up in tones of grey on your page.  See the digital tab to find out how to emboss a Digital Overlay.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Not sure what is with the smile but he was a happy kid this morning.  And I was a happy wife when I found a gift for me on the counter.  I guess my not so subtle hints prompted someone to go to the store and buy me the dvd "The Last Song", thanks hubs!  Can't wait to watch it.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Corner Rounding with Digital

I love this page.  I scraplifted it off of the projects and ideas centre on my Creative Memories website.  I've often gone there to get traditional ideas, but this is one of the first digital ones I have copied.  You do need to know some of the options available on Storybook 3.0 to understand the instructions, but it is pretty simple.  I have never used the corner rounder option on my digital pages yet (and if I did I fogot how to do it).  I did tweek it not doing it exactly like they have it, but you can see both pages if you click on the digital tab.

I love Soup!

I love soup on a cold day (we've eaten A LOT of soup at our house lately!).  This is one of my favourites.  If you don't like chunks of caulifower in yours, just put it in the blender for a second, until it is at the consistancy you like.

How do you mat or frame a photo?

Some of you have asked how to mat or frame a photo.  Once again check out the digital scrapbook tab to find the easy instructions.

Work in Progress

Alright I have figured out that unless you actually click on the tab you won't see some of the ideas I've got for scrapbooking.  So I think I will post the idea on my home page and if you would like to view it with the instructions you can find it on the tool bar.  If you have an idea, comment are there is something you have a question about please post it and let me know!  So with that said here is the 12x12 page I created using the Glitter text.  You can find the instructions on how to make this kind of title under the Digital Scrapbooking tab.

Ok I'm still a guinea pig at this and am not sure if this will actually work.  I'm trying to post some of the new Epicure products here.  It seems to take up my whole blog, and I also see that the time is posted wrong (will have to fix that as soon as I can figure out where it is!).  Thanks for your patience!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog.  It is my goal to keep you up to date with both my Creative Memories and Epicure Selections businesses here.  You will be able to find out when I am placing orders, what specials are available, recipes, view some of my page layouts, and hopefully get some new ideas for both cooking and cropping!
